How to put the black finish back on my computer desk?

I have a black computer desk, and I don’t use a mousepad (feels too weird)
The spot I use my mouse on the most is starting to have the black fade away…how can I fix this (besides usng a mousepad…I can’t find any big enough

perhaps paint a section of your desk clear, or a piece of ply (as a mouse pad) to make it smooth
